Golf
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/Sotogrande-Golf.html
Sotogrande Golf is defined by a geographic area that encompasses world golf heaven. No other place in the world can boast views of the Mediterreanean and 12 of Europes best courses all within 20 kilometers. Try that on for size!
Valderrama
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/valderama.html
Designed by the late Robert Trent Jones Senior, home of the 1997 Ryder Cup and the present Volvo Masters. Valderrama is considered to be Europes best course.
Reserva de Sotogrande
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/Reserva.html
Opened in 2003, this course is on 72 Hectars and five tees for each hole. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson who worked with Robert Trent Jones for 20 years. Completely USGA regulations
Almenara Golf
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/almenara.html
One one of most impressive tees in Europe with certainly the most magnificant views of the Sea and Andalucia Sierra. Designed by Dave Thomas of Britain with 27 holes, two lakes, and deep bunkers.
Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/clubreal.html
One of the first golf courses built in Europe and holding the distinct title of Real or Royal since 1995. It was this golf course that got Sotogrande on the map, and perhaps even made Sotogrande what it is today. It boasts two courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, a 9-hole and a 18 hole.
Club de Golf La Canada
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/canada.html
Guadiro supplied the land, Robert Trent Jones designed the courese, and La Canada became true in 1991.
The course is named after indigenous trees. 18 holes with a very pleasant layout.
La Duquesa Golf and Country Club
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/duquesa.html
La Duquesa is known for its course that changes with the wind as they say. It is a two part course, the first an English style course, the second is the back 9 holes that is easier because of wider fairways.
San Roque Club New Course
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/san-roque-golf-new.html
This is the second golf course for San Roque's resort and built in 2003. This is an excellent course for both beginners, although challenging but manageable and advanced players. Sotogrande Golf magazine describes it as “high in technical quality, precise layout and impeccable finish and landscaping."
Alcaidesa Links
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/alcaidesa.html
Ah the views of this course are amazing, they are of the Mediterranean, Gibraltor and Africa's Morocco. The natural setting is very vogue now a days, however be aware the same view brings the winds that make this a much more difficult course then it looks.
Alcaidesa Heathland Golf Club
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/alcaidesa-heathland.html
The latest course in our area, and 18 holes as a Dave Thomas course, this course is completely different from its sibling Alcaidesa course in that the course is wide and flat. The wind however is still a great challenge in this sibling as well.
Dona Julia Golf Club
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/dona-julia.html
The only course second to Valderrama that uses G-2 bent grass allowing for a fast and perfect roll. This grass and greens of this course along with the extraordinary wide course make this an outstanding must play course.
Finca Cortesin Golf Club
http://www.today-in-sotogrande.com/Sotogrande-Golf.html
Very near the Mediterranean Sea and in a privileged area of Andalusia , Finca Cortesin has become a reference in the world of the golf. At almost 7,000 meters from the back tees it is considered one of the longest courses in Europe .
