No short supply of attractions to keep you busy in Sotogrande. Either directly in Sotogrande or very nearby there are a number of attractions that make this area one of the richest cultural and tourist locations in the world.
This area is broken down into four parts. This area where I speak about some attractions, the next column where I list some more attractions with some pictures, and a list of attractions in alphabetical order, that all three areas lead into seperate pages with the attractions broken with their own page. I hope you enjoy some of these sites, if not all of them, as I am adding them continuously. Please do sign on to my newsletter that gets published sporadically with new events. Unlike most cluttered newletters I keep it short and sweet and announce just the new locations and attractions. Lets get started;

Aqualand Torremolinos

Selwo Adventure Park is located just off the main road along the Costa del Sol near Estepona at Kilometre 162.5. It is a mix of nature park, safari and adventure park and is unique in Europe.
Selwo Marina can be found just one street back from the sea front in Benalmadena Costa opposite the Parque de la Paloma. Selwo Marina has created an environment where you can come to experience some of the marine life of South America. There is a Dolphinarium housing dolphins and sea lions with different pools and walkways allowing you to look in from above and also a viewing area allowing you to see their under water behaviour. The Ice Island is home to an extensive range of species of penguins and Amazonia takes you to the tropical jungle and the marine life there. There is also a children's playground, a touch and explore pool and many other areas to enjoy.
Mijas Aqua Park is located in Fuengirola just off the main Costa del Sol road. There are buses every 30 mins from the Fuengirola bus station or alternatively you can walk from either the bus or train station in less than 20 minutes. Apart from the range of water slides there is a wave pool, a jacuzzi, a lake for swimming in and an area of slides for kids. There is also a games arcade, a picnic area and restaurants. From June 15th till September 15th there is a daily aerobics session, a music and dance show and a parrot show.
Fuengirola Zoo can be found in the centre of Fuengirola opposite Mijas Aquapark. It is open all year from 10am. For more information you can phone 952 66 63 01.
Torremolinos Crocodile Park is located in Torremolinos next to Aqualand. It is open all year from 10am. For more information you can phone 952 05 17 82.
Sanda Retiro is a Botanical and Ornithological Park located in Churriana, inland from Malaga. It is open daily from 10am. For more information you can phone 952 62 35 40.
El Ranchito in Torremolinos offers an Equestrian Show, dinner and Flamenco show every Wednesday starting at 5.45pm. They offer a free bus service. For more information you can phone 952 38 31 40 to keep you busy in Sotogrande.

Flamenco can of course be watched in a nearby Bedoga (sherry producer) in Marbella or anywhere on the coase, but nothing compares to the original Flamenco in Cadiz or Jerez, the land where it was created.

Gibraltar in the background
off of the Sotgorande river that flows into the Med. An international spot for windsurfers and kite surfers froma all arond the world. Gibraltar itself, a British Territory is a site to see, make sure you climb the mountain to see the world famous Gib Monkeys.

One of the first golf courses built in Europe and holding the distinct title of Real or Royal since 1995. It was this golf course that got Sotogrande on the map, and perhaps even made Sotogrande what it is today. It boasts two courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, a 9-hole and a 18 hole.

The latest course in our area, and 18 holes as a Dave Thomas course, this course is completely different from its sibling Alcaidesa course in that the course is wide and flat. The wind however is still a great challenge in this sibling as well.

The latest course in our area, and 18 holes as a Dave Thomas course, this course is completely different from its sibling Alcaidesa course in that the course is wide and flat. The wind however is still a great challenge in this sibling as well.
Dona Julia Golf Club

The only course second to Valderrama that uses G-2 bent grass allowing for a fast and perfect roll. This grass and greens of this course along with the extraordinary wide course make this an outstanding must play course.
Finca Cortesin Golf Club

Very near the Mediterranean Sea and in a privileged area of Andalusia , Finca Cortesin has become a reference in the world of the golf. At almost 7,000 meters from the back tees it is considered one of the longest courses in Europe .

You have to wonder the beautiful flora and fuana in the coast is becuase of the climate or the nursery's. In all of the world I have traveled and have yet to find anything like the garden stores of Spain.
